Double ChainMaster 500Kg Hoist Flight Case
Two BGV-D8 certified motors. Integrated chain bags. Compact dual-motor protection for theatre and touring rigging.
The Nomad Double ChainMaster 500Kg Hoist Flight Case is built for the theatre fly crews, broadcast lighting riggers, smaller-format touring rigging teams, corporate event riggers, and rental houses moving ChainMaster's BGV-D8 certified 500Kg chain hoists between venues — where two motors need to travel together as one efficient unit with proper chain management and lifting gear storage for both.
Hand-built in our Market Harborough workshop, every case combines dual CNC foam tooled motor cavities with two integrated chain bags and dedicated lifting gear storage — keeping both motors, both chains, and the accessory hardware sorted, protected, and immediately deployable when the case arrives at the rigging position.
Why 500Kg motors get specified
The 500Kg ChainMaster is the workhorse capacity for the rigging scenarios where maximum load isn't the priority — but BGV-D8 compliance, smooth motor control, and reliable certified operation still are. Theatre fly systems use them to fly individual line sets and smaller pieces of scenery. Broadcast lighting riggers use them to fly individual fixtures or small fixture clusters. Smaller festival stages use them for secondary lighting positions and lower-grid truss spans. Corporate event riggers use them for show-graphic backdrops and front-of-house projection screens.
The capacity is lower than a 1 Ton motor — but the certification, the control quality, and the reliability are identical. For the right rigging scenarios, 500Kg is exactly enough.
Why two motors per case is the right configuration
500Kg motors are light enough that two fit comfortably in a single case without making it impossibly heavy. For rental houses and touring rigging crews, this is the efficiency sweet spot: minimum case count for the inventory, maximum truck-pack density, single-person manageable handling during load-in and load-out.
A double-motor case carries two motors where a generic single-motor case carries one — but doesn't double the case footprint. Truck-pack maths improves significantly: ten cases carries twenty motors, twenty cases carries forty motors. For rental fleets maintaining 50, 100, or 200+ motor inventories, the double configuration cuts case count in half without sacrificing protection or accessibility.
Integrated chain bags for both motors
The single biggest operational problem with motor transport isn't the motor itself — it's the chain. Each 500Kg motor carries chain that's heavy, mechanically interlocked, and prone to tangling if stored loose. Multiply that across two motors in a single case, and the operational risk doubles.
Two dedicated chain bags within the case — one per motor — feed each chain in controlled deployment as the motors are raised. The chains stay sorted during transit, deploy smoothly when motors are hung, and re-store cleanly at load-out. No tangled mess. No wasted time matching chains to motors. No chain damage from compression against motor bodies during transport.
Dedicated lifting gear storage
Two motors means two sets of accessories — control cables, hand control units, safety hooks, span sets, and the connector hardware that completes each rigging system. A separate compartment within the case houses this lifting gear sorted, protected, and immediately accessible the moment the case arrives at the rigging position.
For theatre fly crews working tech rehearsal schedules, broadcast lighting riggers turning around between studio productions, and rental house technicians dispatching motor pairs to multiple shows per week — the integrated gear storage is the small operational improvement that compounds into significant time savings across an entire touring season.
Built for BGV-D8 certified rigging
ChainMaster's reputation in European theatre and touring rigging is built on certification compliance. The BGV-D8 and BGV-D8+ ratings allow these motors to fly loads over public audiences — a legal requirement on most European theatre stages, festival main stages, corporate events with seated audiences, and broadcast environments where production teams need certified compliance for safe overhead rigging.
The case is engineered around the specific transit requirements of certified rigging hardware. Generic flight cases protect the motor's outer body. They don't isolate the certified motor mechanism from the freight handling that wears out the components compliance auditors inspect. This case does.
Engineered for the way rigging crews actually work
The case is built on a reinforced 18mm wheelboard with heavy-duty 100mm braked castors, recessed butterfly latches on every closure, and 9mm hexa-laminate panel construction throughout. Aircraft-grade aluminium extrusions protect every edge. Reinforced steel corner blocks at every junction.
It stacks cleanly with other Nomad cases for truck-pack efficiency. It rolls smoothly across theatre stage floors, broadcast studios, corporate venue concrete, and festival load-in routes alike. It survives the brutal physical reality of rigging work without protruding hardware to catch, snag, or damage adjacent equipment in the truck.
Specified across theatre, broadcast, and smaller-format touring
Our Double ChainMaster 500Kg Hoist Cases are trusted by theatre fly crews maintaining repertory fly system inventories, broadcast lighting riggers kitting out studio installations, smaller-format touring rigging teams supporting single-artist or corporate event production, festival rigging specialists managing secondary stage positions, and rental houses building out certified motor fleets for the European theatre and corporate event circuit.
The brief is always the same: protect the motors, manage the chains, keep the lifting gear together, and survive the road — at the certification standards European rigging actually requires.
For larger-capacity rigging where 1 Ton motors are specified, our Single ChainMaster 1 Ton Hoist Case serves the major touring and public-audience flying market with the same certification standards and engineering quality.
If you're maintaining a fleet of ChainMaster 500Kg motors and need cases specified properly across the inventory, talk to our team about volume builds. Most of what leaves our workshop is built to specification, and most of our rigging customers reorder year after year.
