Total Protection. No Compromise.

Nomad builds flight cases across every category for live production, broadcast, motorsport, IT and industrial transport. Browse our case types below to find the right starting point for your project — every case can be specified, sized, and foam-fitted to your exact equipment.

The Nomad flight case range is engineered for the touring crews, broadcast engineers, motorsport teams, and production professionals who move high-value equipment between venues. From compact rack cases and screen cases through to large-format road trunks for full touring inventories, every case is hand-built in our Market Harborough workshop using 9mm hexa-laminate panels, aircraft-grade aluminium extrusions, and the engineering standards we've refined since 1961.

Whether you're protecting a single piece of broadcast equipment, configuring a road trunk for a multi-day festival tour, or specifying flight cases for an F1 paddock, the construction principles are the same — precision-engineered around the contents, built to last decades not seasons, and ready for the working life of the equipment inside.

At Nomad Cases, we don't just build transport boxes; we engineer high-performance shells designed to survive the world’s most demanding environments. From the high-pressure logistics of an F1 pit lane to the rigours of a global stadium tour, our flight cases are the industry standard for professionals who cannot afford downtime.

Hand-Built British Engineering

Every Nomad case is hand-assembled in our Leicestershire workshop using a blend of traditional craftsmanship and advanced CNC precision. By utilizing only the highest grade materials—including Penn Elcom hardware and specialized laminates—we ensure that every case leaving our floor is "Tour Grade" as standard.

Choose Your Armour: We offer two distinct build philosophies to suit your specific logistical needs:

  • The Classic Series (Plywood/Hexaboard): The gold standard for heavy-duty touring. Built from 9.5mm birch plywood or scuff-resistant Hexaboard, these cases are designed for maximum structural rigidity and truck-pack efficiency.

  • The LiteGuard™ Series (High-Impact Polymer): Our proprietary lightweight solution. 60% lighter than traditional plywood, LiteGuard™ cases offer a waterproof, rot-proof, and high-impact alternative for air-freight and sensitive medical or scientific instrumentation.

CNC Routed Interiors as Standard

A flight case is only as good as the protection inside. Our in-house design team specialises in custom CNC-routed foam inserts, multi-tray configurations, and integrated rack systems. Whether you need to secure a single 98" screen or a 21-way poly tray system for touring spares, we tailor the internal architecture to your exact equipment.

Trusted by Global Leaders Our reputation is built on reliability. That is why we are the preferred partner for elite motorsport teams, international production houses, and specialist medical manufacturers. When the gear is irreplaceable, the case must be a Nomad.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the main types of flight case?

The most common types are rack cases (for 19-inch equipment), mixer and amp cases, utility and trunk cases, foam-lined equipment cases, and fully bespoke flight cases built to custom dimensions. The right type depends on what you're transporting and how it's mounted or packed.

Can you make a flight case to custom dimensions?

Yes. As a UK flight case manufacturer we build to any size, with custom foam inserts cut to your equipment. Send us the dimensions or the kit itself and we'll design a case around it.

What is the lead time on a custom flight case?

Typical lead time for a bespoke flight case is around 2–3 weeks depending on complexity and current workload. Stock cases despatch faster. Contact us for an exact timeframe.

How much does a flight case cost?

Price depends on size, build specification and foam. Standard rack and utility cases start at lower price points, while large bespoke cases with custom foam cost more. Request a quote and we'll price your exact requirement.

What's the difference between a rack case and a utility case?

A rack case has threaded 19-inch rack strips so equipment bolts securely in place, ideal for amps, processors and power distribution. A utility (or trunk) case is an open box for cables, stands, tools and general kit, with optional dividers and castors.

Are your flight cases made in the UK?

Yes — every Nomad flight case is manufactured in the UK from laminated birch plywood with steel ball corners, recessed butterfly latches and aluminium edging, built to withstand life on the road.

Which flight case do I need for touring or live events?

For 19-inch gear, a rack case; for a mixing console, a mixer case; for amps and backline, an amp/instrument case; for cables and stands, a utility case. If you're moving a mix of kit or anything non-standard, a bespoke flight case is usually the best option.

Do your flight cases come with custom foam inserts?

Yes. We cut foam to your equipment using plastazote, polyethylene or pick-and-pluck foam, so each item sits in its own protective recess. Just send the dimensions or the kit.
