Plastic Rack Mount Cases — Lite Guard™ Lightweight 19" Racks

Lite Guard™ is our plastic rack case: a 19" rack built from 1.3mm high-density polyethylene (HDPE) instead of plywood. It weighs about 60% less than a conventional rack flight case, costs about half, and is quicker to build — while keeping full-height front and rear rack strips, padlockable latches and reinforced side walls. Available from stock in 3U, 4U, 5U and 6U, in black, blue or red.

For most amps, wireless systems, network switches and AV kit that gets moved by one person, a Lite Guard™ case is enough case. Where the load is heavier or the kit is sensitive — large touring racks, shock-mounted servers, anything over 6U — our full range of 19" rack flight cases covers it. Not sure which? Who uses Lite Guard™ plastic rack cases

Motorsport, marine, aerospace and live-event production teams — anywhere kit flies, goes in a van weekly, or gets carried up stairs. HDPE won't rot, swell or delaminate if it gets wet, and it shrugs off the knocks that chip a laminate finish.

Custom depths, branding and inserts

The stock body depth is 600mm. If your equipment needs shallower or deeper, we make Lite Guard™ racks to your depth; we also add printed branding and CNC-cut foam. Frequently Asked Questions

How much lighter is a Lite Guard™ plastic rack case than a plywood one?

About 60%. A 3U Lite Guard™ weighs 4.9kg empty and a 6U 6.5kg, because the shell is 1.3mm HDPE rather than 10mm plywood. In practice that means one person can carry a loaded 4U or 5U rack up stairs or into a flight case hold without help.

Will my 19" equipment fit?

Yes. Lite Guard™ racks are built to the same 19" standard as our plywood flight cases, with full-height rack strips front and rear. Anything designed for a standard rack — amps, wireless receivers, switches, processors — mounts straight in. Internal width is 508mm and the stock body depth is 600mm; we make other depths to order.

Is a plastic rack case tough enough for touring?

For most kit, yes. HDPE absorbs knocks rather than chipping, doesn't crack in the cold, and won't rot, swell or delaminate if it gets wet. Why is it about half the price of a flight case?

Less material and fewer build stages. A plywood rack needs panels cut, edged with extrusion, cornered, riveted and laminated; a Lite Guard™ shell is formed from sheet HDPE and fitted with the same latches, handles and rack strips. That's also why it's quicker to build — ask us for a delivery date on your size.

Can I have a custom size, colour or branding?

Yes. Black, blue and red are stock. For other body depths, printed logos or CNC-cut foam inserts, tell us what's going in the case and we'll quote it. Every Lite Guard™ case is designed and made in our Market Harborough workshop.
