Single Kinesys Apex 1250 Automation Hoist Flight Case
Engineered protection for British-built automation rigging. Motor, encoder, and control electronics — all properly protected.
The Nomad Single Kinesys Apex 1250 Automation Hoist Flight Case is built for the theatre automation departments, stadium tour automation crews, TV studio rigging teams, theme park installation specialists, and award show production riggers moving Kinesys's flagship automation hoist between venues — where motor protection, control electronics isolation, and reliable transit all matter equally because the equipment being transported is significantly more sophisticated than a standard chain hoist.
Hand-built in our Market Harborough workshop, every case combines CNC foam tooling profiled to the Kinesys Apex 1250 with protected control electronics cavity and encoder/feedback system isolation — keeping the entire automation hoist system safe from the freight handling, vibration, and rough load-in cycles touring automation involves.
Why automation hoists need different cases
The Kinesys Apex 1250 isn't a chain hoist. It's an automation hoist — a variable-speed, position-feedback, computerised lifting system that combines a 1250Kg-capacity chain motor with integrated encoders, control electronics, and the precision required for choreographed scenery movement during a show.
Generic motor flight cases protect the outer body of a chain hoist. They don't account for the additional electronic complexity of an automation hoist — the encoders that track position to the millimetre, the control electronics that respond to choreographed cue commands, the feedback systems that confirm safe operation to the show control desk. All of these systems are sensitive to vibration, impact, and sustained freight handling in ways that standard chain motors aren't.
This case is engineered around exactly those engineering realities.
Built around the Kinesys Apex 1250
Every Nomad Apex 1250 case is CNC-profiled to the exact dimensions of the hoist — including the chain motor body, the integrated control electronics housing, the encoder mounting points, and the connection panel at the rear. Dual-density Plastazote foam tooling cradles the unit from below and above, isolating the motor assembly and electronics from high-frequency vibration during freight transit and absorbing impact loads during festival and touring load-ins.
The hoist sits motor-up in the foam tray, allowing crews to visually inspect the unit and check the control panel before pulling it for the show. The control electronics housing is supported separately from the motor body, ensuring the electronics aren't carrying the motor's weight during transit — a small detail that meaningfully extends electronic system service life across multiple touring seasons.
British engineering, British case manufacturing
Kinesys is one of the few UK-based automation hoist manufacturers serving the international touring, theatre, and broadcast markets at scale. Their engineering reputation is built on precision, reliability, and the control capability that automation specialists require for choreographed scenery movement.
Nomad is one of the few UK-based flight case manufacturers with the engineering capability to match Kinesys's standards. We've been hand-building cases in Britain since 1961 — and the Kinesys Apex 1250 case is engineered to the same precision standards as the hoist it protects. British-built motor, British-built case, both engineered for the international touring market.
Integrated cable and accessory storage
The Kinesys Apex 1250 doesn't travel alone. Each hoist deploys with control cables, network cabling for show control integration, safety hardware, and the connector hardware that integrates the motor into the broader automation system. A separate compartment within the case houses this gear sorted, protected, and immediately accessible the moment the case arrives at the rigging position.
For theatre automation departments transferring productions between venues, stadium tour automation crews running multi-city schedules, TV studio rigging teams installing automated lighting trusses, and rental house automation specialists dispatching motors to multiple shows per week — the integrated gear storage is the small operational improvement that compounds into significant time savings across an entire touring season.

Engineered for the way automation crews actually work
The case is built to survive the brutal physical reality of automation touring. It stacks cleanly with other Nomad cases for truck-pack efficiency. It rolls smoothly across theatre stage floors, stadium loading bays, TV studio concrete, and corporate venue surfaces alike. It survives the kind of repeated handling automation hoists see across multi-venue touring without protruding hardware to catch, snag, or damage adjacent equipment in the truck.
Front lid removes entirely for full motor access during deployment. Closes flush during transit with recessed latches that don't catch on cables, costumes, or hands during fast load-outs.
Specified across the automation sectors
Our Single Kinesys Apex 1250 Flight Cases are trusted by theatre automation departments running productions across major venues, stadium tour automation crews supporting world tours with choreographed automation, TV studio rigging teams maintaining automated lighting and scenery infrastructure, theme park installation specialists deploying permanent automation rigs, and rental house automation specialists serving the international touring and broadcast market.
The brief is always the same: protect the motor, protect the control electronics, keep the encoders calibrated, and survive the road — at the precision standards automation rigging actually requires.
If you're maintaining a fleet of Kinesys Apex hoists and need cases specified properly across the inventory, talk to our team about volume builds. Most of what leaves our workshop is built to specification, and most of our automation customers reorder year after year as their motor fleets expand.
